Federal Funding Update

California WIC is open.

On November 12, 2025, the United States Congress passed a bill that provides full funding for the WIC program through September 30, 2026.

Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. WIC continues to serve families in California without any disruptions.

What is the WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit?

The WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit offers families a monthly cash-value benefit on their California WIC Card for the purchase of fruits and vegetables.

What can I buy with this benefit?

These benefits can be used to buy dried fruit, fresh, canned, and frozen fruits and vegetables of any brand, type, or combination. Organic fruits and vegetables are also included.

What is the latest update to the WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit?

The WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit has adjusted amounts, effective October 1, 2023.

The dollar amounts are:

Each monthly benefit is valid for 30 days from the date they are issued. For example, benefits issued on June 15, 2024, can be used through July 14, 2024.

How were the benefit amounts decided?

The benefit levels are based on independent scientific recommendations from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). The benefit levels are also consistent with longstanding advice in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and adjusted for inflation.

Where can I use the Fruits and Vegetables Benefit?

You can use your Fruits and Vegetables Benefit at WIC approved stores and with farmers that accept the WIC Card.
