Starting in the 2025 season, WIC authorized farmers’ markets will accept the new California WIC Card!

Use the California WIC Card with its special quick-response (QR) code to shop for seasonal, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Shopping at farmers’ markets is a healthy way to support your local farmers while adding variety to your meals. Your WIC Card’s special QR code allows you to use:

  • The Fruits and Vegetables Benefit: This cash-value benefit is available year-round to help families buy more fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • The monthly benefit amounts are:
    • $26 for children ages 1 to 5
    • $47 for people who are pregnant and postpartum
    • $52 for people who are breastfeeding
    • $78 for individuals breastfeeding more than one infant

Find a WIC authorized farmers’ market

Look for farmers’ markets near you using our location finder or the California WIC App. Look for the WIC authorized sign when at the farmers’ market.

Use your monthly Fruits and Vegetables Benefit to shop for fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.

Scan your WIC Card

Give your WIC Card to the farmer, who will scan the QR code to process your purchase. Confirm your purchase by entering your personal identification number (PIN).

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I use my WIC Card at farmers’ markets and grocery stores?

    Yes. Your WIC Card works at both grocery stores and WIC authorized farmers’ markets. The QR code on the front of the WIC Card is used at farmers’ markets only, while the magnetic stripe on the back of the card is used at grocery stores.

  • How do I use the QR code?

    The farmer will scan the QR code on your WIC Card. You will confirm the purchase by entering your PIN, and the amount will be removed from your available Fruits and Vegetables Benefit.

  • How do I find a farmers’ market that accepts my WIC Card?

    Use the California WIC App or use our farmers’ market search feature to locate a WIC authorized farmers’ market near you.

  • What happens if I lose my WIC Card?

    Contact your local WIC office to ask for a replacement card. Any unused benefits will transfer to your new card.
